Extension Of Dubai Creek Boosts Dubai World Expo 2020 Bid
With the bids to host World Expo 2020 getting hotter, the cities in fray are leaving no stone unturned. Dubai with its superior infrastructure facilities now gets a stronger chance to beat competition. The Dubai creek development plans are now in full swing. Estimated to cost 2 billion Dirhams, the Canal Project of Dubai will give a fillip to Dubai’s chances to win the bid for the hosting of prestigious World Expo 2020.
The project has everyone in a upbeat mood and in a recent tweet, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister and Vice-President of the UAE commented on Wednesday after the project inauguration: “we are always dedicated to bring more ventures with new and innovative perspective”.
The project envisages adding more waterfront destinations and urban spaces with bays for yachts, malls and restaurants. The additions will include among other things:
- A swanky mall close to Safa Park
- Another landmark – Crescent hotel
- Beach along the proposed opening of canal
- Commercial areas
- New bridges for pedestrian
The above is intended to make it more fun and easy for visitors to while their time taking in the sights. It will add to the beauty of the city which is already a forerunner in the bid to Expo2020. Dubai is deemed as one of the most preferred destinations as it has a cosmopolitan feel and multicultural way of life.
The project is planned in phases and Dubai intends to complete the Creek Extension as early as 2017 so that it is ready well ahead of scheduled time for the 2020 Expo. A unique bridge will be the major attraction in the Canal project of Dubai. This bridge will join the upcoming shopping and entertainment projects. To add to dining experience, as many 450 new eateries and fine dining spaces will be added juxtaposed to yachts of luxurious marinas, and various four world-class hotels.
Dubai also has several other projects on anvil and pipeline to add to the beauty of the city. It aims to add more accommodation and commercial space to be able to showcase the best hospitality and business opportunities.
