WTA Award for DWTC (Dubai World Trade Centre )
After ADNEC, now it is Dubai World Trade Centre which has won the coveted WTA award for being World’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre.
Till last year, it was ADNEC which won honors. For three consecutive years, ADNEC was voted to be Middle East’s Leading Exhibition and Convention Centre by World Travel Awards. The award was given away at a gala awards night at the picturesque Le Royal Meridien Beach resort and Spa in Dubai.
The WTA (World Travel Awards) draw 600 odd regional players to have a competition in 120 categories of awards from the tourism and travel industry. It is certainly the most prestigious event in the Middle East in the travel and tourism industry. The winner is decided in each category by a poll. UAE has been winning in multiple categories, but Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) and Dubai World Trade Centre winning the award is great news. With World Expo 2020 slated for Dubai, these awards show the preparedness of the country for such large scale events.
As the CEO of ADNEC group, put it after winning the award third time over, “This is no doubt a great success for ADNEC and we are pleased that we have obtained this award third time from the World Travel Awards. We have a mission to be global leading events, conferences and exhibition centre, and this award positively proves a sustained recognition of our efforts.”
The UAE hosts multiple conferences and events and ADNEC had focused on improving the standards to deliver to the exacting standards of world class conferences. The MICE services are upgraded regularly along with infrastructure upgrades. Accommodation facilities are also being upgraded and increased to 4,000 rooms of hotels on walking distance.
In 2012, ADNEC also won ‘Best Purpose Built Venue Award’ in the Events of Middle East and ‘Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award’ apart from being voted ‘World’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre’ at World Travel Awards in 2012.
ADNEC’s quality services have been appreciated in Europe too. Its facility in the UK, ExCeL London has won five top awards in 2012. Voted the ‘Exhibition Venue of the Year’ by Event Top 20 Venues Poll for 2012, it also won the ‘Excellence Award’ at the Excellence Awards of Association of Event Organizers. The facility, ExCel London was also awarded ‘Europe’s Leading Meetings and Conference Centre’ at the Awards of World Travel.
